ASK_EMAIL_SETUP

OVERVIEW:

You can setup a user account for each person who will use LocPlus. To use LocPlus email features, a user must setup their email account. This window allows the user to setup their email account information so that the user can send email.

FIELD INFORMATION:

Use SMTP (direct connect) for Email:
If this box is checked, LocPlus will communicate directly with your email server. Because of the constraints of software changes to Outlook to protect agains viruses, this feature is recommended by Koala Software whenever possible.

Use MAPI (Outlook) for Email:
If this box is checked, then LocPlus will communicate via MAPI functions with your email program (Usually Outlook - but NOT Outlook Express). In order to use this feature, you must have installed Outlook with the Collaberation Data Objects. (Many default Outlook installations do not install this feature, so you may have to go back to the installation disks and add this feature).

SMTP Server:
Enter the name of your SMTP server. Get this from the party that supplies your email service. If you are using Outlook for email, you can find this information in Outlook under the Tools, Accounts, Properties information. It is identified by 'Server information - Outgoing mail (SMTP):'

SMTP user name:
Also from you email service provider. In Outlook may be identified by 'Incomming Mail Server - Account Name'.

SMTP user password:
From you email service provider. In Outlook may be identified by 'Incomming Mail Server - Password'.

Email from address:
Put in the email address you want shown on your email. Your customers will see this email address, and if they reply to your email, it will go to this address.

BCC address:
If you want to send an additional 'blind' copy of email to an account, enter it here.

Server requires send before recieve:
Check this only if your server requires this for you to access their SMTP email server. Some companies do this to help protect them against unauthorized use. Selecting this feature slows down your emailing.

POP3 Server:
From you email service provider. In Outlook may be identified by 'Incomming Mail Server - Incomming mail (POP3):'.

POP3 user name:
From you email service provider. Often same as SMTP user name.

POP3 user password:
From you email service provider. Often same as SMTP password.

SUMMARY:

If you have any questions about the setup, get information about setting up Outlook from you mail service provider. Make sure Outlook works before reporting errors to Koala Software. Have the Outlook setup information so that we can test. Try first without the 'Server requires send before recieve'.
